Tour of architecturally-designed animal homes

Consarc Architects worked with artists London Fieldworks to design unique animal residences which are based on despots’ palaces, offering a somewhat startling imposition on a patch of ancient forest in King’s Wood. The original artists’ brief of a film-set was extended to develop installations providing shelter for a number of animal species. This was done through analysis of despotic architecture as reference for three ‘palaces’ in the trees. The result is these unique installations consisting of water catchers, bird boxes and moss-growing crevasses. This exhibit is designed to change and wear over time as the pieces slowly age with the woodland.
