Event Details

Sandcastles in Bracknell town centre and in South Hill Park Gallery

As a child I remember building sandcastles that would then inevitably be reclaimed by the sea. As adults we try to form a more concrete version of our (sand)castles . We try to carve out our paths and to build the walls of protection. Some are successful , others will be reclaimed by the elements. For ‘At Play’ Kay Sentance has placed small sandcastles in Bracknell city centre. These sandcastles in an ‘alien’ landscape – being so far from a beach -stand out as familiar and unfamiliar, as well as being transient amongst the permanent (?) architecture of this town. In both scenarios, though, these little playful reminders are eventually reclaimed by our surroundings.
