Hard Times in Portsmouth (Places from Spaces)

Event Details

Temporary transformation of The Hard

The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) is running a design experiment in public spaces in three cities in the Region. Architecture students from the University of Portsmouth took part in SEEDA's competition to create ideas for a temporary transformation of The Hard in Portsmouth. The students will put up beach huts and mark out three routes - to the city centre, the dockyard and the waterfront. They will create dramas to animate the routes and spaces and provide a 'memory bank' to collect local reminiscences. The ideas will feed into the City Council's master plan for regeneration of this area.
