Event Details

Bespoke nursery building designed to captivate and encourage children’s imaginations

Tour of Little Upton, a bespoke nursery building set in the grounds of Upton House School. The design seeks to blur the distinction between inside and outside as an extension of ‘boundary exploration’. The nursery classrooms can expand and contract in size, blurring the lines between internal and external spaces and offering the school a vital tool with which they can strengthen the nursery children’s understanding of the relationships and boundaries of spaces. Coloured building elements are set against the white brick of the building to be playful and eye-catching. The blue glass canopy washes the white brick in varying intensities of blue light creating an ever changing façade of colour. The red stiletto column creates a fun centre piece in the children’s enclosed playground, allowing the children to interact and play with the building.
