Better places, better spaces!
From 20 May until 28 June 2009 ... from Milton Keynes to Margate ... the south east Festival of Architecture brought you building tours, workshops, exhibitions and happenings.
The Festival involved:
- 90 events
- 20,000+ estimated visitors
- 40 architects' practices
- five of the six Schools of Architecture across the south east
- more than 40 artists who are inspired by architecture.
The fun continues ...
If you've ever:
- Looked out across rooftops
- Wondered how buildings stay up
- Thought 'Why did they design it this way?'
- Admired a house
- Been amazed by a building
- you'll enjoy the Fun Stuff that architects and others provide for you on this site
What happened?
The Festival was celebrated across ...
... and Guernsey and London too!
Artists, Architects
Lots of artists are inspired by architecture - and some architects are artists too! We put artists and architects together so that everyone could enjoy new ways of looking at and understanding buildings.
Architect in the House
Architect in the House is an innovative scheme that lets homeowners get expert advice from an RIBA Chartered Architect in exchange for a donation to Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity.
Householders were matched with an RIBA Chartered Architect in their area, who gave their time, for an hour-long consultation in which the architect will discuss creative ways to extend or improve their home. The suggested minimum donation is £40: all the money raised goes towards Shelter. See www.architectinthehouse.org.uk
